Andres, Andy, whatever is easier to remember...

Andy’s work explores the crossover between still photography, film and art. His time at NMSU has brought many opportunities to venture down many roads behind the camera, or on the screen.

Bio:

Andres is an aspiring editor and cinematographer studying Digital Film Making at NMSU. He is a certified FAA Drone Pilot with experience in on the ground and aerial real estate photography and videography. He was the editor for the student film Never Bet Against Rick!!! (2024) that was released as part of the Creative Media Institute's student film showcase. He has also worked as Set Designer Assistant on the student film Rogue Pursuit (2024) and Boom Operator on student film I Am Not Real (2022). Andres is also a freelance photographer with experience in event photography and promotion with his personal social media pages. Andres hopes to one day work with one of the many production companies dotted across New Mexico and earn a professional editor credit.

Artist Statement:

I'm an editor, cinematographer, photographer, I like anything that involves a camera essentially. My work tends to be a raw form of reality we live in; I love working on the streets as a spontaneous photographer just as much as I like working on a production for film or real estate.

There is something about the process of either recording or taking a still of subjects that drives me to create a story or mood. People and the spaces they create for themselves are connected, and yet we all live varying extremes of life. I want to find the moments that encapsulate the human experience in its rawest form. These moments tend to literally happen in the blink of an eye and sometimes would be otherwise forgotten without someone capturing it.

The beauty of camera photography is that it translates on a technical level with cinematography, and I have been able to take the experiences of others and incorporate them into my own film projects. Attending classes at NMSU to pursue a bachelor's in Digital Film Making has opened many opportunities to develop my skills as a filmmaker.
